AAS 270 - Race and Racism

An examination of political and philosophical issues stemming from relations of power based on race in the U.S. Subjects will include how the concept of race has been used to classify humans, designating them as inferior or superior; the notions of racial identity or race consciousness; and political philosophies addressing the problem of racial oppression.
