HIS 349 - Central Europe 1789-1918 A critical examination of historical change in central and eastern Europe from the age of enlightened absolutism through World War I. Exploration of the theoretical and historiographical debates over the meaning of liberalism, socialism and nationalism for ethnic relations within multinational empires and emerging nation-states. Special attention given to the implications for Jewish communities. Prerequisite: HIS 100, 101, 110 or 111. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)
